The New York Public Library’s largest annual event returns, this time commemorating the 50th anniversary of Truman Capote’s Black and White Ball. 5. New York Comedy Festival

New York Comedy Festival

The 10th annual Stand Up for Heroes event, which supports the Bob Woodruff Foundation for veterans and their families, kicks off this five-day comedic extravaganza with Louis C.K., Jim Gaffigan, Jerry Seinfeld, Bruce Springsteen and Jon Stewart. Festival performers include Dane Cook, Trevor Noah, Bill Maher, Tracy Morgan and more. Ticket
