Torrisi marks Major Food Group’s first major restaurant opening in NYC in recent years, a huge stride for New York’s bustling restaurant scene at large.
The soon-to-be hotspot also features the group’s first-ever open kitchen, a bustling bar room, a cozy dining room, a private dining room, and outdoor seating.
Led by Chef Rich Torrisi, one of the group’s co-founders, the cuisine takes inspiration from Italian and New York City influences like Chinatown, Little Italy, and Jewish delis.
Signature dishes include Hand-Pulled Mozzarella, San Gennaro Bao, Linguine with Manhattan Clams, Tortellini Pomodoro, Short Rib Scottadito, and Cucumbers New Yorkese.
“In the years leading up to this moment, I had a feeling that Torrisi Bar & Restaurant belonged near Mulberry St., surrounded by the stories and traditions that inspire me and this concept,” says Chef Torrisi.
“Now that we’re ready to welcome guests at the Puck Building, I’m absolutely convinced that Torrisi Bar & Restaurant could only exist in this space, on this corner, and I look forward to cooking here for many years to come. This is home.”
The Italian aperitivo bar program is led by bar star Nathan McCarley-O’Neill, formerly of The NoMad in New York and Claridge’s in London.
Cocktails include Negronis and Garibaldis complemented by iconic American drinks like Martini variations, Manhattans, and Old Fashioneds.
Curated by MGF’s top sommeliers, the worldly wine selection embraces Italy, as well as Champagne, Bordeaux, Burgundy, the Rhône, Napa Valley, and other key regions.
