As we get ready to run to the market for all of the gourmet food items on our shopping list, and we pull out our finest china and flatware, Winston Flowers offers this helpful reminder about an autumn entertaining piece to accent your Thanksgiving Day table.
Don't forget to make a bold statement, and the best and easiest way to do that is with a single, seasonal centerpiece which is a striking way to dress a long table for fall entertaining. Here, we filled an extra-long trough with autumn’s earthy colors and organic textures, including flowers, foliage, fruits, and vegetables. Here's a tip....buy some extra produce, vegetables and nuts at the market and incorporate them into a single, long floral setting. Don't have a trough? A long basket will work perfectly.
Perfect for Thanksgiving, this design is at once traditional and unique. It features the tawny hues typically associated with fall, but also includes unexpected pops of pink and rich jewel tones to play off the unique wallpaper in the room. (Don't be afraid to use your interior decor to help inspire your table top set-up.) The flowers, including ‘Sahara’ roses, silky cymbidium orchids, scabiosa, sorghum, and deep, dark calla lilies, are loosely arranged to look as if they had grown that way in the wild. Halved pomegranates, red pears, and bunches of berries are expertly woven into the design to create a rich feeling of abundance.
We completed the look with simple china and silverware so as not to compete with the eye-catching centerpiece. We added beautifully etched wine glasses to lend a touch of old-world charm, and placed candles throughout for a warm, friendly feel. The result is a table that’s both visually dynamic and endlessly inviting.
