Carrie Bradshaw has been informing our culture’s sense of style since 1998. Some may call this shoe-obsessed, sex columnist the first fashion influencer to rule the streets of Manhattan. Over two decades later, Bradshaw’s spunky, pushing-the-boundaries style continues to be culturally relevant. This Manolo Blahnik addict proves to be an icon that will stand the test of time.
In celebration of the Sex and the City Reboot, And Just Like That, we have rounded up fifteen of Bradshaw’s most fabulous fits.
The Cowboy Hat
Nobody rocks a cowboy hat like Carrie Bradshaw. We admire Carrie for pushing the envelope and showing some skin. Look at her pilates-toned body—could you blame her? I couldn’t help but wonder, are Carrie’s abs her best accessory?
The Newspaper Dress
This Dior newspaper dress is absolutely everything. Reformation sells a similar print now, which is undoubtedly influenced by our queen. This printed body-con dress is so good, that Carrie wore it again in the second movie. I couldn’t help but wonder, in a world so black and white, is there room for a splash of color?
The Emerald Green Skirt
Bradshaw might as well be on That’s So Raven, because she literally saw into the future. Emerald green is THE color of 2021, and Carrie called it before smartphones even existed. Paired with a simple white button-down, she nails that effortlessly chic look. I couldn’t help but wonder, would this outfit match with a cosmopolitan?
The All-Black Ensemble
Carrie may be bursting with color, but she sure rocks an all-black look. It’s simple, it’s elegant, it’s oh so good. Let’s take a moment of silence for the skull necklace. Anybody else would look tacky in costume jewelry, but she makes it look like a million bucks. I couldn’t help but wonder, will Big notice her in this outfit?
The Pinstripes
Carrie may have made a fool out of herself at Vogue, but her outfit definitely stood a chance. Look up chic in the dictionary, and you’ll find this navy matching pinstripe suit. The intricate detailing on the top makes a traditional suit a little edgier. I couldn’t help but wonder, is Carrie the original girl boss?
The Underwear
Make fun of this look all you want, but nobody would look this good in sequined underwear and a large satin petticoat. Carrie Bradshaw strikes again. And can we talk about her hair? Our girl may be known for her beautiful curls, but she rocks this sexy, voluminous look. I couldn’t help but wonder, should she wear this on her sexcapades?
The School Girl Skirt
If Carrie’s the teacher, you bet we’ll be signing up for every single class. This plaid mini skirt and pearl necklace is giving us serious Gossip Girl vibes. We saw Carrie Bradshaw wearing a high ponytail with a scrunchie, so we wore a high ponytail with a scrunchie. I couldn’t help but wonder, can I find this skirt at a vintage shop?
The Matching Set
The gold detailing on this outfit is to die for. And hello lingerie! But of course Bradshaw makes this peek-a-boo moment chic, rather than trashy. Carrie wore a matching set before sets were even a thing. I couldn’t help but wonder, did Carrie invent the co-ord set?
The Gold Boots
These metallic boots belong in the museum of Carrie Bradshaw’s shoes. Carrie masters the art of matching, without making it look too try-hard. We’re absolutely obsessed with the gold accents on this outfit. Fun and flirty, and oh so fashionable. I couldn’t help but wonder, can we mix and match gold and silver like we mix and match men?
The Winter Wonderland Outfit
We don’t know why Carrie looks so bothered in this image. With an outfit this good, what’s there possibly to complain about? This winter wonderland-inspired set is elevated with the elegant white gloves and tweed beret style hat. I couldn’t help but wonder, would Carrie have been invited to Paris Fashion Week?
The Green Floral Dress
Carrie really did make green cool, and she’s not letting us forget it. The gold-studded belt is never something we would think to pair with this outfit, but of course, Carrie pulls out all the stops. This outfit is the perfect blend of girly and edgy, and we are here for it. I couldn’t help but wonder, are femininity and masculinity mutually exclusive?
The Oversized Shirt
Carrie may live in a man’s world in the sheets, but she definitely runs the streets. Overslept at Big’s? No problem! She’ll just steal his shirt and make it into an unforgettable ensemble. Bradshaw’s oversized button-down shirt paired with an Hermes belt is simple, yet brilliant. I couldn’t help but wonder, does androgynous clothing empower women?
The J'adore Dior Top
Nobody “J’adores” Dior more than our curly-haired friend. This flowing bright purple skirt is absolutely magical on Bradshaw. Only she can wear a bag with Abu Dhabi prints while in Abu Dhabi, and not make it look completely gaudy. I couldn’t help but wonder, will Aidan fall in love with her again in this outfit?
The Floral Dress
Bradshaw looks like a Greek Goddess in this breathtaking white and gold dress. The flower is definitely over the top, but in the most tremendous way possible. If Carrie showed up to the 2022 Met Gala in this, we wouldn’t be mad. I couldn’t help but wonder, should we wear our hearts on our sleeves like the flowers on our dresses?
The Pink Dress With The Studded Belt
Carrie looks like an absolute rockstar in this dress. The pearl necklace paired with the black studded belt is truly genius. Bradshaw never fit into a box, so why should her outfit? The pink tones of this dress are very pleasing to the eye, too. I couldn’t help but wonder, are our outfits the truest form of self-expression?
These outfits weaved together demonstrate how Carrie plays an integral role in our culture’s fabric of fashion.
Does anybody want to meet at the diner for fries with a side of gossip?
