Children's Health Fund Annual Benefit

| June 13, 2016 | Parties

On Tuesday, June 7th, hundreds gathered at the glittering ballroom of the Mandarin Oriental for Children’s Health Fund’s Annual Benefit to support healthcare for children living in poverty across America. Children’s Health Fund – the national nonprofit founded by singer/songwriter Paul Simon and pediatrician/child advocate Irwin Redlener, M.D. – has become famous for its big blue “doctor’s offices on wheels” that bring medical professionals to the most vulnerable kids in the nation.

At this year’s benefit, celebrating 29 years of service to America’s kids, Children’s Health Fund honored legendary singer and activist Harry Belafonte with its Humanitarian Award. His good friend, Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman was on hand to present the award and folksinger activist Joan Baez paid tribute to Mr. Belafonte with a video message and song.
