Dia Art Foundation 2011 Fall Gala

| December 28, 2011 | Parties

Full of monumental works, Dia Art Foundation’s rolling estate along the Hudson is an anomaly in the New York art world. The Beacon, NY, megagallery is also “one of the coolest places in the world to see art,” Dustin Yellin remarked at the organization’s annual fall fundraiser in Tribeca. Of late, though, the buzz is about a move back to its Chelsea roots. The foundation recently bought a big chunk of real estate on West 22nd Street—the cornerstone, director Philippe Vergne explained to an audience that included Kate Spade and Julian Schnabel—of a multiyear plan that will afford Dia a major presence near the High Line.
