Empowers Africa Luncheon

| September 23, 2015 | Parties

On Monday, September 21st, Empowers Africa honored the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre and its founder, Lente Roode with an intimate luncheon. Ms. Roode was in the U.S. for only a limited time, and this was a rare opportunity to meet and hear stories from one of South Africa's most well-known protectors of the cheetah. She opened the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre in 1990 as a cheetah breeding centre and since then, approximately 200 cubs have been born there and more than 150 of them have been successfully introduced into the wild. HESC is recognized as a pioneer in the conservation of rare, vulnerable and endangered species, including cheetahs, wild dogs, ground hornbills, black-footed cats, sables and more.
