Since its inception, Manhattan-based real estate brokerage Coldwell Banker Warburg has placed a strong focus on empowering women in business. From supporting its talented female agents to hosting leadership workshops for women, Coldwell Banker Warburg continues to work towards an equitable future that values and uplifts women in real estate.
In pursuit of this mission, the company launched a New York City chapter with the philanthropy group What Moves Her—an organization dedicated to helping women in the real estate industry grow their leadership skills and reach their professional goals, and CBW’s Chief Operating Officer, Kevelyn Guzman, is at the helm.

“I believe that supporting What Moves Her's mission is not only a social responsibility but also a strategic decision,” Guzman says. “It aligns with our commitment to making a positive impact in the communities we serve and helping our agents achieve their full potential.”
In 2020, Sue Yannaccone, president and chief executive officer of Anywhere Advisors and Anywhere Brands, launched What Moves Her with the goal of supporting women in real estate by inspiring them, enhancing their leadership skills, and assisting them in their pursuit of success. During its first year, the initiative launched a virtual series titled “Portraits of What Moves Her,” which provided more than 5,000 women with valuable tools and strategies for achieving success in both their personal and professional lives.
Now, with the new chapter in Manhattan, the benefits of What Moves Her continue to expand and reach more women in real estate. Through organizing networking events, workshops and seminars, Coldwell Banker Warburg and What Moves Her are working together to move the needle for women in the industry.

“The chapter serves as a hub for women real estate professionals, providing them with a platform to connect, collaborate and grow together,” Guzman says. “We are dedicated to building a strong and supportive community of women in real estate, emphasizing their contributions and achievements while advocating for their empowerment in the industry.”
On November 16, the chapter held its first event with Manhattan Magazine, where Guzman was featured on a panel alongside Courtney Willis Blair, senior director of White Cube; Aerin Lauder, founder and creative director of Aerin; Sharareh Siadat, founder of TooD Beauty; and Candace Bushnell, American author and journalist. There, Guzman shared her first encounter with real estate: a clubhouse she made when she was 12 years old with her sisters. While that clubhouse was quickly shut down due to New York City zoning laws, Guzman noted that the What Moves Her Manhattan chapter embodies the same principles: women supporting women.

On the panel, Guzman also emphasized that she would like to incorporate support for single mothers into the chapter. As a single mom herself, Guzman recognizes the lack of support these women have and the unique challenges they face parenting and working in the city. With a strong mission to support women in the industry, the New York City chapter will continue to grow as a safe space for female real estate professionals to learn, connect and flourish in their careers and personal lives.
“Our dedication to supporting and educating women professionals in the real estate industry remains steadfast, and the initiative will persist in fostering positive change through leadership programs, resources, workshops, events and various other avenues,” Guzman says. “We're looking forward to what lies ahead with enthusiasm.”
