After 20 long years, high-end department store Nordstrom set foot in the city and celebrated its arrival in style with a VIP-only party at its swanky 320,000-square-foot store.

Along with Pete and Brandy Nordstrom, who represented the Nordstrom family, guests such as Anna Wintour, Katie Holmes, Joan Smalls and Tommy and Dee Hilfiger mingled over never-ending Champagne, martinis and small bites.

Invitees received insight into the brand-new, flagship-exclusive merchandise and whiled the night away customizing bags with the help of graffiti and embroidery artists.

Other activities included building collaborative origami sculptures and custom floral arrangements. Guests were also treated to gift bags from a kid-friendly conveyor belt as a memento of the retail mammoth’s first evening in the Big Apple.
