| June 2, 2016 | Parties

On Wednesday, May 18th, Joining in Justice raised over $60,000 for The Door’s Legal Services Center. New York City’s most powerful, influential leaders in the legal, business and entertainment communities were in attendance. Guests celebrated an inspired evening with honorees, which include the firm of Proskauer Rose LLP, for its leadership in providing pro bono services to undocumented and immigrant youth. New York City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito accepted an award for her work to ensure that every child in immigration court has access to an attorney and is provided safety and well-being after fleeing violence in Central America. A former youth client, Jesus, shared a success story of realizing his dream to work at NASA thanks to The Door’s Legal Services Center and youth client portraits were on display; guests were able to interact with each of the participants. Great Performances provided Latin-inspired dishes, classical guitarist Bill Girolamo of RS Musical Services entertained the crowd and City Winery sponsored the wine.
