THE PARTY Shot on location in Tribeca for less than $10,000, Newlyweds almost sounds like the sort of film that might premiere in someone’s living room. But writer-director Ed Burns (who stars in the dramedy alongside relative newcomer Caitlin Fitzgerald) unveiled his micro-budgeted indie in front of a glam crowd that included Calvin Klein and newsman Brian Williams—even if Burns’ wife, Christy Turlington, stayed home (in Tribeca, naturally) with the kids. THE PLAYERS Actors Mike McGlone and Connie Britton, who co-starred in Burns’ first indie, the 1995 Sundance hit The Brothers McMullen, caught up in the lounge adjoining the Crosby Street Hotel’s basement screening room, while waiters served shrimp rolls and tuna tartare to a mixed crowd that included Tinsley Mortimer, Kelly Killoren Bensimon, modeling agent Scott Lipps and easy-on-the-eyes comedian Daniella Pineda.
