What does "The Model of Fitness" mean?
VANESSA PACKER: A holistic approach to working out: going against the grain, the notion that you have to exhaust yourself at the gym and restrict yourself at meals to get the physique you want. It's all about balance and mindfulness. modelFIT started out of a desire to marry mindful nutrition with mindful exercise.
What's been the most rewarding part of building the brand?
VP: The clients! Seeing them achieve goals and see the positive results that come from taking care of oneself: it's incredibly humbling and gratifying,
What was a pinch-me moment for ModelFit?
VP: The first year we opened we were featured in the New York Times Style section, NY MAG Best of New York Issue and Vogue's September Issue. It was wild, we were everywhere! As a born and raised New Yorker, those three publications gave me an immense feeling of a job well done, like we did something right.
What are some tips to stay healthy during the summer?
VP: Hydrate and rest! As much as we push ourselves to be 'bikini ready' in the summer, it's so important to rest the body on off days. The heat can do a number on our system and dehydration is no joke. Also, enjoying the summer produce is a great way to stay healthy, local and in rhythm with nature!
What does wellness mean to you?
VP: Wellness is LIFE. Health is wealth. The best thing to invest in is yourself: your mind, body, spirit.
What are you most excited about for the rest of the year?
VP: I'm excited for our Hamptons pop-ups in August. We also have some fun events we have planned through the fall and winter in and around the studio. Honesty, that back to school feeling in September always gets me, it's like a true start to a new year with new energy and revitalized feelings for a fresh start.
