There’s no doubt New Year’s Eve 2021 celebrations will look very different around the world. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic changed our lives from spring to winter, but as we turn the page on another year, we find reason to hope for better in the months to come.
For New York City, New Year's Eve is a favorite celebration. The Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball Drop is watched by million across the country and the globe, but this year it goes virtual, and we will have to watch it on TV and online like the rest of the world.
With indoor dining closing once again and large events limiting their numbers, you might be worried that there's no festive way to ring in the next chapter, but that isn't entirely true.
There are still plenty of ways to have fun, whether you invite a few friends over, socially distance, order in your cocktails or find a way to make your own. You can relax at home, or enjoy a special NYE menu from one of the city's finest chefs. Either way, there's much to cheers about, so break out the champagne. Do it big.

Times Square Virtual New Year’s Eve Celebration
It's not gret that the annual Times Square New Year’s Eve Celebration will not be open to the public, but on the bright side, you can celebrate in your fuzzy pajamas! Tune in to the stellar live performances alongside the whole world and stay warm in the comfort of home. The whole show will be streamed on the Times Square Website.
Special NYE Restaurant Menus
Some restaurants will offer celebratory menus to ring in the new year. The NYE menu at 15 East @ Tocqueville is extensive with Aged Carnaroli Risotto Acquerello and applewood smoked slow roasted rack of berkshire pork. Aquavit will serve high-end takes on Scandinavian cuisine, while Lucciola has fine Italian covered. Luthun brings a bit of France to your doorstep, and Socarrat Paella Bar is full of Spanish flavor. Dine-in or take-out are both available at each of these eateries, so have your fill. See their websites for reservation information. Don’t miss out on indulging yourself one last time before 2021!
