The South Street Seaport's R17 is Serving Up Plenty of Tasty Dishes & an Endless Supply of Champagne

R17 makes a name for itself in the South Street Seaport with elevated cocktails and tasty plates.

The Royal Mail, $19, contains Veuve Clicquot, Bacardi 8-year, Earl Grey and bruleed grapefruit.

As with most hot, downtown lounges, the scene at R17 is buzzing, and the Veuve Clicquot is flowing. But Pier 17’s new cocktail bar manages to stand apart with an enviable rooftop location in the heart of culinary innovation (Seaport Food Lab is practically next door) and incredible interiors by Rockwell Group. The space embodies comfortable cool with a platform of couches and a glass fireplace wall. Cocktail standouts are the Royal Mail with Bacardi 8-year, Champagne, Earl Grey and bruleed grapefruit, and the nitro-tapped vanilla coffee martini with Grey Goose La Vanille, cold brew, cacao nib and hazelnut. The menu is composed of small plates, such as hamachi crudo with chipotle, honey-soy and mustard seeds, or deftly cooked Australian wagyu ribeye served with salsa verde and a scallion condiment. With these, executive chef Cassidy Hallman holds his own in the epicurean neighborhood and makes R17 a destination within a destination. 89 South St., pier17.com
