THE PARTY At the St. Regis, dapper guests of a literary inclination celebrated Lesley Blume’s It Happened Here, a history of the storied hotel and the first in a series published by Thornwillow Press. A jazz orchestra, flapper-esque models and a claw-foot bathtub packed with bottles of Moët on ice conveyed a fizzy ’20s vibe. THE PLAYERS Harry Belafonte joined young luminaries like Nina Freudenberger, Lisa Salzer and Claiborne Swanson Frank. OVERHEARD “Salvador Dalí lived at the St. Regis with his ocelot, which everyone here remembers, and his wife, whom no one seems to remember.” –Blume
