On Tuesday, April 7th, Sigma Delta Tau sisters gathered in Times Square for the Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA) Big Pinwheel Garden to mark Child Abuse Prevention Month and raise awareness that all children deserve great childhoods. Those who gathered created a massive display of pinwheels, the national symbol for child abuse prevention.
Sigma Delta Tau partnered with Prevent Child Abuse America in 1982, in the hopes of empowering families and preventing neglect. So far, the organization has helped raise over $1.7 million for the cause, and chapters host fundraisers and events all year long to raise awareness.
In 2008, Prevent Child Abuse America introduced the pinhweel as the new national symbol for child abuse prevention through Pinwheels for Prevention.
