Polaroid Art Auction with Clos du Bois

| October 28, 2011 | Parties

THE PARTY Say cheese! At Phillips de Pury & Company’s Park Avenue branch, Polaroid showcased more than 60 photos taken using the brand’s GL10 camera, and not by any old shutterbugs: Viggo Mortensen and Tyra Banks were among those whose snaps were featured. Later in the evening, the works were auctioned off, with proceeds benefiting art-mentoring programs for underprivileged children. THE PLAYERS Polaroid board chairman Bobby Sager toured Sting around the gallery, while contributing photographers Norman Jean Roy and Patrick Demarchelier munched sushi with the likes of Stefano Tonchi. COLLECTOR’S ITEM An installation of Polaroids of Demarchelier’s most famous works went for $37,000 during the live auction. Photos by Patrick McMullan Company
