Playing Around

The revival of Terrence McNally’s It’s Only a Play (staged off-Broadway in the 1980s) attracted a flock of celebrities eager to see stars Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane reprise their comic chemistry on the Great White Way. “We really like each other, and we laugh at the same things,” explains Broderick. “Nathan and I are probably different in a good way.”

“As different as can be,” interjects Sarah Jessica Parker. “And somehow it seems to go together,” concludes her husband. With Broderick and Lane as inspiration, Manhattan asked cast members and opening-night guests about other dynamic duos (past or present) that continue to entertain and inspire.
