Valerie, a new 1920s-inspired cocktail lounge, recalls a bygone era.
The Sincerely Yours ($15) is composed of Moskovskaya vodka, banana, lemon, five spice and walnut bitters.
Manhattan’s Golden Age resurfaces with Valerie, a new cocktail bar and restaurant open in Midtown as a sophisticated yet comfortable dining space. A mixing of old and new, the hot spot puts a spin on the classic G&T with a customized drink menu, Gin & Tonic Your Way, which encourages guests to pick gin to mix with a crafted tonic. The signature cocktails are also not to be missed. For example, You’re Wondering Now, made with Old Overholt rye, cacao, pecan and orange bitters, features a lingering, multilayered flavor. Food ranges from crispy duck wings to Fisher Island oysters on the full-course menu with blistered shishitos or kimchi sriracha fondue as snacks. To emphasize the old-age feeling, the restaurant illuminated the main staircase with warm, amber lights and decorated the walls with Prohibition-era photos that recall Manhattan’s glories. 45 W. 45th St., valerienewyorkcity.com
