Seedlip Is The World's First Distilled Nonalcoholic Spirit

For those who appreciate but don’t overindulge in fine spirits, the entire concept of the impending “dry January” may sound sinful. But more blasphemous would be to participate only to be limited to lackluster, light-on-the-tongue soft drinks with no discernible tang of quality. Enter Seedlip, the world’s first distilled nonalcoholic spirits from the portfolio of liquor leader Diageo, the company behind Johnnie Walker and Tanqueray, among others. In 2015, Seedlip founder Ben Branson set out with a vision to create a complex, sophisticated alternative to alcohol befitting his mother’s 300-year farming heritage and his father’s brand-design expertise. Branson’s kitchen-table experiments yielded three flavorful, robust concoctions that stand up to traditional mixers, notably tonic water and ginger ale. But do yourself a favor and try the complex brews neat at least once. Seedlip Grove 42 is a zesty celebration of orange with a citrus blend of bitter orange, mandarin, blood orange, lemongrass, ginger and lemon; Seedlip Spice 94 is an aromatic blend of Jamaican allspice berry, cardamon and two bark distillates; and Seedlip Garden 108 is an herbal mix of pea and hay distillates from the founder’s farm with rosemary, thyme, spearmint and hops. Flavor and crafted kick without the hangover? Don’t mind if I do.
