Skype Me

| April 5, 2012 | Parties

THE PARTY Sandro Kopp debuted a series of oil portraits, presented by arts organization Istanbul ’74, painted during Skype sessions with famous friends. THE PLAYERS Among the guests who indulged in charred octopus and pan-seared duck breast were Waris Ahluwalia, Frances McDormand, Michael Stipe and Kopp’s girlfriend, Tilda Swinton—each of whom got a portrait of their own. The high-wattage fans, including Gina Gershon, Terence Koh and Ethan Coen, flocked to Chinatown’s popping Pulqueria for the after-party. OVERHEARD “Tilda and I went to a little dim sum place in Chinatown the other night. It was one of those random places with fish tanks right on the street.” –Kopp. Photos by Neil Rasmus/Billy Farrell Agency
