The Met Opera's Norma

THE PARTY The Metropolitan Opera Opening Night Gala kick-started the 2017-18 opera season with a new staging of Bellini’s masterpiece, Norma, at Lincoln Center. This black-tie occasion included a cocktail reception, performance and dinner with the cast. THE GUESTS Among notable guests in attendance were Rupert Murdoch, actress Gina Gershon, singer Paul Sorvino, singer Patti Smith, philanthropists Barbara and Donald Tober, and Ariana and Camilla Rockefeller. THE HIGHLIGHTS Directed by Sir David McVicar, the performance starred one of the world’s leading interpreters of Norma, Sondra Radvanovsky. As a result, the event raised approximately $4.9 million, along with countless praise of the show’s set designs and singing. Bravo! -Luisa Horwitz
