| November 25, 2014 | Parties

On Wednesday, November 19th, the 10th Anniversary Orthopaedic Foundation Gala was held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Manhattan, bringing 300 high-profile athletes, socialites and orthopaedic surgeons to support the organization's various educational and research programs. Guests were able to bid on a variety of items for auction, including a private tennis lesson with American tennis sensation, James Blake, who was one of the evening's guests of honor.

Heather Abbott, a survivor of the Boston Marathon bombing, received the Spirit of an Active Lifestyle award, which was presented to her by TV personality and author Aviva Drescher. Abbott gave an emotional speech to the audience about her inspiring road to recovery after suffering a leg amputation as a result of the attack. Another guest of honor, President and CEO of F.D. Rich Company Thomas Rich, graciously received the Leadership Award for Philanthropy as guests enjoyed food and wine pairings from several acclaimed Manhattan chefs and were treated to a concert by legendary Grammy Award winner Bruce Hornsby.
