Thinking Outside the Lunchbox

| November 1, 2013 | Parties

When the invite to Buddakan mentions something about lunchboxes, party-hopping New Yorkers must be forgiven for worrying that the Meatpacking hot spot has gone BYO. Fortunately, it was not a Wonder Bread sandwich that patrons were asked to bring to Stephen Starr’s eatery, but rather their support (and credit cards) for an auction to benefit the Lunchbox Fund. Brainchild of Topaz Page-Green, the charity works to provide meals for underprivileged schoolchildren in South Africa. With the appeal of auction lots like original photography by Chuck Close and Mick Rock, and artwork by Dustin Yellin and Tara Donovan, the Fund closed the night having raised $300,000 to bolster its youth-focused mission. In the spirit of the evening, Manhattan reminisced with the attending celebs about their own days of PB&J, inquiring: “What character was on your childhood lunchbox?” Photography by Getty images for The Lunchbox Fund
