THE PARTY Coalition for the Homeless and its friends raised funds for the city’s disadvantaged. Sotheby’s auctioneer Aileen Agopian moved works by Jenny Holzer ($40,000) and Ed Ruscha ($52,000) and a silent auction featured pieces by Olaf Breuning and Richard Phillips, as well as a photograph by Richard Gere, who co-hosted with his wife, Carey Lowell, and Alec Baldwin. The 30 Rock star demurred when one would-be donor asked for a smooch, saying: “My brother Stephen is coming later, and he’ll be kissing everyone.” THE PLAYERS Artists and burgeoning collectors mingled with Hannah Bronfman and jewelry designer Lisa Salzer. Honorary chair Coco Rocha gathered up her skirt and did an impressive Irish jig. OVERHEARD “Art can cut through pessimism, it can transcend predispositions and dogma and stale philosophy. This is about me making the world as I want to see it.” –Shepard Fairey
