Women Helping Women New York Luncheon

On Wednesday, November 12th, Voss Foundation hosted its fifth annual Women Helping Women New York Luncheon at the Dream Downtown. Over 200 guests dined family-style amongst rustic d├ęcor and vibrant floral and oversized leaf centerpieces. Susan Fales-Hill, writer, producer, author, served as a lively and engaging Mistress of Ceremonies. Noella Coursaris Munsunka, Founder of the Georges Malaika Foundation (GMF) and 2010 Women Helping Women honoree, presented the dedicated 2014 Women Helping Women project. James Aguiar, National Fashion Director for Modern Luxury, presented this year’s Women Helping Women honorees: Kristy Caylor and Rebecca van Bergen. Caylor is the Co-Founder, President and Creative Director of Maiyet and van Bergen is the Founder and Executive Director of Nest. Aguiar also introduced jewelry designer Karen Egren who presented one of her necklaces to the honorees.

Throughout the luncheon, guests shopped the foundation’s celebrated African Bazaar, that sells artisanal handmade jewelry, scarves, baskets, and toys purchased directly from communities in Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Liberia, Swaziland, and Uganda where the organization works. Combined ticket and table sales, project donations, and Bazaar purchased totaled $96,000.00.
