Here's a look at seven Manhattan women who are defining fashion on their own terms.

Fashion is a personal passion for me because... it’s the best way to communicate with the world without opening one’s mouth.

My fashion philosophy is... comfortable—yet I always toss in an unexpected twist!

The best style advice I ever received was... be yourself!

My favorite designers are... Veronica Beard, Chanel, Céline, Dolce & Gabbana, Rag & Bone, Milly, Isabel Marant and The Kooples.

In regard to jewelry, I opt for... minimal. Homemade friendship bracelets, Kelly Rutherford Star necklaces and Annina Vogel charm ensembles, Catbird and Paige Novick earrings.

In NYC, I shop at... Bergdorf, Barneys, Fivestory, Brandy Melville, Saks Off 5th and Zara.

I sometimes coordinate my outfit with... funky knee socks and dangling hair feathers.

Fashion is a personal passion for me because... it expresses the power and femininity of women.

My fashion philosophy is... be true to yourself.

The best style advice I ever received was... be true to yourself!

My favorite designers are... Michael Kors, Giambattista Valli, Dries Van Noten, Gucci and Fendi.

As far as accessories go, I prefer... belts, belts and more belts. I’m a belt fanatic.

In NYC, I shop at... The Webster, Bergdorf Goodman (with my guy, Alex Benet), and Madison Avenue is my No. 1 go-to because it’s in my neighborhood, so I feel very fortunate to have, now more than ever, in the 70s and high 60s, some amazing shopping.

I look best in... I’m definitely a dress girl. Always dresses.

As the new face of Estée Lauder, American Ballet Theater Principal Dancer Misty Copeland’s fashion game is always en pointe.

My fashion philosophy is... complement my body. Have fun with fashion, but not go so far left that it doesn’t complement me.

Fashion is a personal passion for me because... it’s another form of expression for me. I live in New York City! I’ve learned so much about fashion, freedom of speech and art living here.

The best style advice I ever received was... I am petite, so it would be to not overwork anything or overwhelm my frame.

In terms of wardrobe, I would never... be so immersed in a trend that I didn’t look like me.

My favorite designers are... Balmain, Roland Mouret, Givenchy, Alexander Wang, Tom Ford, Self-Portrait and Oscar de la Renta.

In regard to jewelry, I opt for... delicate and feminine over big and gawdy or too trendy.

I look best in... skinny jeans and a T-shirt with nude pumps.
